Abia lawmaker urges FG to rehabilitate Aba-Ikot Ekpene Rd
The Deputy Majority Leader of Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Solomon Akpulonu, has urged the Federal Government to fix the dilapidated Aba-Ikot Ekpene highway to end the suffering of road users in the area.
Akpulonu lamented that community roads across the five wards of the constituency have been destroyed by heavy duty trucks who now use them to cut off the dilapidated portions of the highway.
“As a representative of this constituency, I have severally drawn the attention of the government to the deplorable state of Aba- Ikot Ekpene highway. This road has been featuring on the national budget since 2009, without being rehabilitated.
Few months ago, the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Raji Fashola, was here to inspect the road, yet nothing has been heard since his visit. Our people who are predominantly farmers have been made to suffer untold hardship; they find it difficult to evacuate their produce to Aba town.
