NIGERIA SOCIETY OF ENGINEERS (NSE) SEEKS PARTNER WITH DBIR TO ENHANCE REVENUE COLLECTION.

The Nigeria Society Of Engineers, Warri Branch yesterday
20/07/2016 played host to the the Executive Chairman and other
Board Members of Delta State Board Of Internal Revenue at the
DBIR Headquarters Warri.

The Delegation of the NSE which was led by Engr Benjamin
Uchebike noted that the purpose of their visit was to partner with
the Delta State Board Of Internal Revenue for easy identification
and collection of taxes from engineers who are working with
private establishments as well as those engineers who are
suppose to be paying their taxes in other to assist the
Government and the Board in boosting the revenue base of the
State.

In his response, the DBIR Board Chairman, Sir Monday John
Onyeme thanked the executive of Nigeria Society of Engineers,
Warri branch for their good gesture in their drive to support the
government and the Board to enhance Revenue Collection/
Generation.

While thanking the NSE for their partnership, Oyeme reiterated that
the board is ready to partner with the NSE in order for quick
Identification and easy collection of taxes from those engineers
with private businesses/enterprises who are suppose to be in the
tax net but they are not, he stressed the need for the informal
sectors as well as Deltans in general not to relent in performing
their civic obligations by embracing taxation because according to
him "Taxation is not a punishment to citizen but a civic
responsibility"

He revealed that the DBIR Board has already embarked on court
actions against tax defaulters, noting that the continuous
dwindling of the oil prices has affected the federal allocation
drastically, saying that the allocation receive from the federal
government is not even enough to pay the salaries of workers,"
Despite all this, the Okowa led administration has put in place
Infrastructures/Basic amenities needed by Deltans in other to
better the life of all, it will be wicked if anyone who is eligible to
be in the tax net failed to embrace taxation" Onyeme Stated.
