Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Holds Its 90th Conference In Abia
Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has acknowledged the contributions of the members of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria in improving health care services in the country.
The Governor made the commendation when he received in audience, a delegation of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) led by its President, Ahmed Yakassai.
According to the Governor, Nigeria is yet to begin to tap from the potentials of the pharmacists in this country .
"I yearn for the time when 90% of pharmacists in the country would be engaged in manufacturing and production of one drug or the other. When some of our local medicines would have been validated in a scientific way and endorsed for use,” He said
The Governor intimated them that Abia has been bothered on how to reach out to the most vulnerable in the environment, the people at the two extreme of life ; the children from month zero to fifty nine and the elderly in the State. He stressed that the essence of his newly introduced Free Home Care services in the State was to improve life expectancy among the citizenry.
Ikpeazu thanked the Pharmaceutical Society for its special health intervention in Ubakala community in Umuahia South Local Government Area of the State and congratulated the Society on its 90th conference holding in Abia State.
Earlier, the President, Ahmed Yakassai Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria said the team visited to brief the Governor on the 90th National Conference of the body holding in the State.
Mr. Yakassai commended the efforts of the Governor in developing the State, especially in the health care sector and called on him to employ more medical personnel in the government hospitals in the State. He said Abia State is in the world map as the State has made waves in the promotion of the "Made in Abia" products, and described Abia State as peaceful, lovely and hospitable.
