Don Ubani; Ebere Wabara Still Tormented By Frustration
No matter what circumstance one finds oneself in, one should not allow frustration to take control, not to talk of absolute control of one.
Some time in second half of 2014, I had made some responses to a particular write-up by a former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, which he purportedly wrote under Orji Uzor Kalu leadership series in his paper, The Sun.
An attack dog of the former governor, one Ebere Wabara, took it as a responsibility to rain all manner of abuses on me, using his master's Abia state-facilitated newspaper.
After reading through his invectives, I decided to ignore him, taking his outburst as the rantings of a frustrated and dejected person.
Quite unexpectedly and unwarrantedly, on page 16 of Sun of yesterday, 5th September, 2016, Ebere Wabara, under the caption, T A Orji's Hacks(1) Don Ubani(1) repeated the same essay he had written in 2014.
When some one drew my attention to it, I read it online and thereafter wondered why Ebere Wabara should waste half a page of a newspaper to publish a very unworthy piece he had published more than a year ago.
This reminds me, last January 23, Thisday on page 47 had published an article I had captioned, Bazaar In The Temple of Justice.
As if Ebere Wabara was hired and positioned to attack what ever I say or write, Ebere Wabara annoyingly queried why I should write such a commentary. He even wondered why the Justices of the Appeal Court that sat at Owerri should not clamp down on my freedom.
I effectively controlled my emotion by not reacting spontaneously. Rather, I decided to conduct a histo-psychological search on him. That inquiry was necessary because Ebere Wabara, in many of his write-ups, had boasted of having many streams of income.
Following my search on Ebere Wabara, I discovered that he is a native of Umuogor-Ndoki in Ukwa-East. His village is on the western bank of the Azumini Blue River.
His townsmen, on inquiry, laughed almost derisively at me for wasting my time on a person like Ebere Wabara. According to many of his kinsmen, he is regarded as a socio-cultural failure in his village. This is because, as they put it, Ebere Wabara is so irresponsible and unorganized that, at an age of more than fifty, he has no hut of his own in his Umuogor village.
To compound his problem, his late father's house in which his senior brother had given him a room was burnt to ashes following the killing of two police men, who had gone to Umuogor on investigation, by members of Wabara's family .
Ebere Wabara, therefore, became a hermit. He does not go home any more as he irresponsibly has no where to sleep.
In the same degree of irresponsibility, Ebere Wabara, who had
boasted of having many streams of income, has no house of his own in Lagos where he lives.
Ebere Wabara does not even live a decent part of Lagos. He lives in a dilapidated house that has no water reticulation upstairs in a shanty in Lagos.
Due to his recklessness and gross irresponsibility, he has not been living up to landlord/tenant obligations. Hence, he has been served with a quit notice.
In order to vent his frustration and anger, Ebere Wabara remembers Don Ubani and wants to transfer his aggression to him.
My advice to Ebere Wabara is to subject himself to self examination and plead with God to forgive him for his rudeness, uncouthness and penchant to insult persons who are his senior in every ramication, including Senator Adolf Wabara, not the same Wabara, whom he insults unjustifiably with ease.
Finally, I sympathize with Ebere Wabara because coming from a pedigree of brutal murderers, he can not be any person other than whom he is.
Signed:
Sir Don Ubani, KSC, JP
Okwubunka of Asa
