@GovernorIkpeazu urges Abians to honor the legacies of Bob Ogbuagu




The remains of the late elder statesman and Vice Chairman of the Abia State Advisory Council, Chief Bob Beremakor Ewuolonu Ogbuagu has been laid to rest at his country - home, Umukabia Umugbom Ohuhu in Umuahia North LGA.

Speaking during the funeral service at Methodist Church Umukabia, Ohuhu, Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, who appreciated the kind words and tributes said and written about late Chief Bob Ogbuagu, challenged Abians to keep the legacy of the renowned public relations practitioner going by emulating his lifestyle of love and sacrifice for others.


According to him, "we all say that Dee Bob lives on yet the question is how do we ensure that Dee Bob will live on? We will be pretending about what we have said and written if we fail to live by the virtues of Dee Bob encapsulated in his love and sacrifices for others".

The Governor harped on the need for Abians and Nigerians to relive the legacies the sage left behind, adding that the late elder statesman left legacies of good character, discipline and faithfulness to the services of God Almighty.

The Governor expressed confidence  that Dee Bob was resting in the bosom of his maker, urging the family to take heart as his demise was not just their loss but a loss to humanity at large.

Also speaking, the Minister of Industry, Trade & Investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelama, described the late Dee Bob as a man of deep integrity and loyalty and assured that the people of Umukabia, Ohuhu and Abia state will not disappoint the late founding father of the state but will live with the legacies he left.

In a funeral oration on behalf of the family, Chief Uche Bob Ogbuagu said their father laid a good foundation for them and regretted that he died when they needed him most. He promised that the family will continue to follow in the footsteps he left for them.

In a sermon, the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Rev. Kalu Uche,  called on Christians to strive to run their race such as to finish well and earn eternal life.

The Prelate who took his text from 2 Timothy 4:6-8 spoke on the topic "prepare for transition or termination". According to him, "death for a Christian means laying down the burden of this life in order to rest".

He described late Chief Ogbuagu as meticulous, dogged, a man of undying spirit and one who always attended as well as presented papers at their Synods.

Aged, 92, Chief Bob Ogbuagu was a doyen of Public Relations in Nigeria and belonged to many reputable institutions in Nigeria and Africa.

Left to mourn him were his aged wife, Lady Cecilia Bob Ogbuagu and his children.
