Gun Attacks Another Church in Anambra State



Tragedy again have struck the people of Anambra state at a moment when they are trying to recover from last Sunday's Ozubulu massacre, Barely seven days later Gun men struck at an Assemblies of God Church along Oguta road Onitsha.

The attack left two dead and one person fatally injured among the dead is a police, and an Okada driver.

An eyewitness who narrated the ordeal said the gunmen stopped at the Assemblies of God Church, but on sighting some policemen at the church opened fire on them.

He said when the gun battle became too hot the policemen scrambled for safety leaving their colleague who was already hit by the hoodlums and  their patrol van behind ".

The victorious gunmen moved to their patrol van and seized the gun of the slain officer.

The Okada driver who also fell victim was trying to flee the scene with his passenger when he was also hit, his passenger was injured and was latter rushed to a nearby hospital.

The Anambra state commissioner of police, mr Garba Umar confirmed the incident but the debunked claims that it was an attack on the Church.

He said " my men were on patrol near the Church when they were attacked by some gunmen. It was not an attack on the church, in the real sense of it".

The Minister of labour and employment, Dr Chris Ngige was quick to condemn the  recent attacks in Anambra state he promised that the federal government would do all it takes to restore peace to the state.
