The petulant defenders of anything corruption that is perpetrated by anyone outside the Government dismissed this fraud as an error committed by the clearing agent.

Please can you extrapolate how the clearing agent could have written "Yeast" in the declaration form instead of "Rice"?
The two different items sound alike? Look alike? Taste the same? Share similar spelling? Please help extrapolate.
And they say the cargo belongs to Master Energy LTD and not Senator Hope Uzodinma. They say Senator Hope Uzodinma wrote a letter compelling the Nigerian Customs Service to release the 30 containers of rice in his capacity as Chairman Senate Committee of Nigerian Customs.
BTW wetin consign ENERGY company with RICE importation? Are they not supposed to be importing NEPA transformers and power cables where they have comparative advantage?

Before you try to make cheap political capital of out of nothing try and get the facts straight so that u don't make mockery of urself and ur sponsors.
First, the issue at hand is purely administrative matter between the customs and the clearing agent who mishandled his duty in effect to make extra money having been contracted by Masters Energy and paid in full accordingly. You may also wish to know that he has been charged to court by the company over his negligence.
Sen. Hope's letter to the customs is merely advisory and not a directive hence he is the present Senate committee chairman overseeing the customs and in line with his oversight functions the letter is not out of order.
