Ikpeazu Sacks Abia Poly Rector, Registrar
The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has directed that the Rector and Registrar of the Abia State Polytechnic Aba should proceed on a six month compulsory leave without pay, with immediate effect.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Eme Okoro, and made available to our correspondent says, the Governor further directed that Prof Ezionye Ebo and Chief C A Nwabughogu should take over as Acting Rector and Registrar of the institution respectively.
Ikpeazu also directed the immediate redeployment of all medical staff including all the medical doctors working at the Polytechnic to the Abia State University Teaching Hospital Aba. According to the statement it reads ‘’The Governor had earlier approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of the Polytechnic’’
These are parts of the drastic steps aimed at repositioning the Polytechnic for better service delivery’’.
Meanwhile, without pay Ikpeazu, has ordered the immediate resumption of academic and regular activities at Abiapoly. The new management must ensure that school activities resume by Monday 6 February 2017.
Employees who fail and/or refuse to show up for work on the new resumption date shall be deemed to have resigned their appointments.
