Abia to eat home grown rice this year - Ogbonna

The Commissioner who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with The AUTHORITY yesterday in Umuahia, said Gov Okezie Ikpeazu had already given a marching order to council chairmen whose land is good for growing rice to ensure that the target is met.
He said that the state government had rolled out plans to assist the affected councils.
“ Last year, we ate Ebonyi rice but this year, we will eat Abia rice”, he said, adding that government will do everything to ensure the success of the policy.”
He also said arrangements had been perfected to ensure every council produces crops that it has comparative advantage, explaining that a private firm is already partnering with Umunneochi LGA for cashew plantation in the area.
