Gunmen kidnap NULGE official in Abia

Gunmen, yesterday, kidnapped the Vice President of the Abia state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade Ikechi Nwaigwe, in Aba.

It was gathered that Nwaigwe was abducted at about 7.30pm as he made to drive into his residence at the Federal Housing Estate, Ogbor Hill, Aba when the gunmen seized him. A member of the family, who declined to have his name on print, told V
anguard that the NULGE official had arrived the gate of his residence at the Estate blaring horns for his son to open the gate without knowing that the gunmen had laid in wait for him.

“As soon as his son came out to open the gate, the gunmen attacked Nwaigwe and pushed him inside his car. They beat up his son before speeding off with him in his car.” As at the time of filing this report, sources hinted that his car, a Toyota Camry, was said to have been recovered while the kidnappers have also established contact with his family, demanding a ransom of N2 million. When contacted, Abia State Police Spokesman, Ogbonnaya Nta, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the incident, was yet to be reported to his office.
