ONDO GUBER: PDP Reports Judge To NJC, Says Jegede Remains Her Standard Bearer

THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State,  yesterday, said it has petitioned the National Judicial Council, NJC, over the ruling of Justice  O. E Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja  on the governorship candidate of the party. This came as the  party insisted that the aspirant that emerged during its primary, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, remained the PDP  candidate for the November 26 governorship election  in Ondo and not Mr Jimoh Ibrahim.

 Eyitayo Jegede and Jimoh Ibrahim Addressing newsmen in Akure, the state Chairman of the party, Clement Faboyede, raised the alarm over “ the unholy alliance to subvert the will  of the people” by Abang and a faction of the party in the state in respect of the PDP  candidate in the coming election.

 “We have submitted petitions against Justice Abang and we are awaiting the outcome of the investigations”, the party Chairman said. Faboyede, however, said the party had taken “steps to affirm the validity of his candidature and expose the flaws in the decisions of the court targeted at subverting the will of the Peoples’ Democratic Party and the generality of the people of Ondo State”.

 He described the verdict, on Friday, delivered  by Justice Abang on the candidate of the party, “as having inherent weakness and obvious ineffectiveness against  its governorship candidature”. Faboyede alleged that there existed an unholy alliance to subvert the will of the people other than the ‘cooperation’ that pervaded the entire processes and proceedings in the case as delivered by Abang, saying Jegede he remained the lawful candidate of the PDP in the state.

 “Legal steps have been taken to demonstrate the validity of the candidature of Jegede and expose the flaws that are targeted at subverting the will of the Peoples Democratic Party and the generality of the people of Ondo State,”the PDP leader said.

 “That the attempt to re-write the judgment by changing the date of 2019 general elections as contained in the earlier judgment of 29th  June, 2016 and linking it with the governorship election of 2016, which was never the subject of the earlier suit would certainly be a subject of investigation by the appropriate statutory authorities.

 “We must state for the records, that despite the inherent weakness and obvious ineffectiveness of this judgement against the candidature of Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), legal steps have been taken to affirm the validity of his candidature and expose the flaws in the decisions of the court that are targeted at subverting the will of the Peoples’ Democratic Party and the generality of the people of Ondo State”.
