CROSS RIVER :Ayade approves promotion for civil servants
The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade has given approval for the promotion of qualified State civil servants.
The promotion according to the Governor is to clear the backlog of qualified civil servants due for promotions long ago and to boost their morale.
The disclosure was made recently in Calabar by the State Civil Service Commission Chairman, Barrister Rosemary Obanya while briefing journalists in her office.
Her words: “This is to allow us clear the backlog of civil servants who are qualified for promotion and boost the morale of the State civil servants”.
She revealed that “the last time there was promotion of civil servants in the State was in 2011, the process has truly commenced as the Senior Staff Committee of the various MDAs have been asked to send in their respective recommendations, by December this year the whole process would have been done with”.
Although there will be no written exams for this year, the Chairman disclosed that subsequent promotion exercise will have the affected civil servants needing to take a competence exam to prove their capability.
Reeling out some of the program of her Commission since her coming to office in January, Obanya stated that her Commission has successfully created additional departments to ease their work and promptly attend to complaints that come in.
