By: OBINNA DON NORMAN

Senator Theodore Ahamefule Orji, representing Abia Central
has described the story of his arrest and detention by
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),
published by Igbere TV as baseless disinformation that
defied all journalistic principles.

Igbere TV an Abia State based online blog, editing by one
Mr. James Emeh had published a story titled: EFCC
ARRESTS EX ABIA GOVERNOR THEODORE ORJI, today
(Monday), alleging that the immediate past governor of Abia
State was arrested last week and being detained for diverting
N200 billion Abia State funds as well as, owning 400 houses
with his son in Dubai.

In a press release by his media adviser, Mr. Don Norman
Obinna, made available to newsmen on Thursday, Sen. Orji
who threatened legal action if conditions given to Igbere TV
were not met said the malicious story was published with a
sole intent to bring his name and office to ridicule.

The statement reads in part: “We not only find this baseless
piece of (dis)information insulting to the office and person of
Senator T.A Orji but also a calculated attempt by disgruntled
politicians to manipulate the psyche of the general public as
the alleged arrest and detention of Sen. Orji only exists in the
mind of the writer and his frustrated sponsors.

“We therefore give Igbere TV the next one hour to step down
the misleading information which defied all journalistic
principles with unreserved apologies published on all viable
online portals and three national newspapers or face legal
action.
