Our attention has been drawn to a malicious publication by one Igbere Television (an Abia State based online blog), with libelous headline: Breaking: EFCC ARRESTS EX-ABIA GOVERNOR, THEODORE ORJI, published today, Monday 28, April, 2016. (Follow link provided below)

The malicious story which was published with a sole intent to bring the name and person of Senator Theodore Orji to ridicule read thus:
 “Information just reaching our Newsroom indicates that The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), invited the immediate past governor of Abia state senator T. A. Orji and detained him last week for diverting over 200 billion dollars of Abia state government fund and owning over 400 houses with his son in Dubai. As at time of filing this report we are not sure if he has been released. We‘ll keep an eye on the development and bring you updates as they become available.”

We not only find this baseless piece of (dis)information insulting to the office and person of Senator T.A Orji but also a calculated attempt by disgruntled politicians to manipulate the psyche of the general public as the alleged arrest and detention of Sen. Orji only exists in the mind of the writer and his frustrated sponsors.

We therefore give Igbere TV the next one hour to step down the misleading information which defied all journalistic principles with unreserved apology published on all viable online portals and three national newspapers or face legal action.
