The entire Catholic Church in Aba, under the Catholic Diocese of
Aba, has lauded the developmental strides of the Abia State
Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
In a goodwill massage, jointly signed by Bro Greg Mgbajiaka, Very
Rev. Fr. Dr Anthony Chukwuma and Bro. Gabriel Aleke, on the
occasion of reception organized by the church for the governor,
the church lauds the achievements of the governor in less one
year in office.
The Godswill message reads: "The Cathedral Administrator, the
Parish Council, Laity Council, CMO, CWO, CYON and the entire
Christian community of Christ the King Cathedral (CKC) Aba
heartily felicitate with His Excellency Dr Okezie Ikpeazu on the
occasion of grand reception in his honor by the Catholic Diocese
of Aba.
"We appreciate the laudable feats achieved so far by the governor
less than one year in office. The infrastructural revolution he has
embarked upon especially in Aba engenders hope of great
dividend of democracy for the common man, after many years of
decay and despondency.
"It is interesting to note that His Excellency has in several
occasions expressed unalloyed readiness to combat crime and all
manner of civil unrest in the state. Such will and determination
are characteristic features of people-oriented government, poised
with growth and development. Indeed, the governor is working,
never deterred by the nation's dwindling economic fortunes.
"We wish Governor Okezie Ikpeazu a successful tenure of office
and God's grace to lead Abia State to the land and future of her
dream."
In an address to the Governor read by Rev Fr Innocent Ajuonu,
the church said: "The last gubernatorial race in Abia State was a
long-drawn-out tug-of -war. Events that followed proved that God
was with you, and He is still with you.
"God has chosen you, at this point of time in the history of Abia
State, for some purposes. Before you were formed in your
mother's womb, He knew you, He prepared you and concentrated
you to be the Governor of all in Abia State in the most difficult
time in the history of our country. All in Abia State are now your
children. This is a sacred office that goes with very heavy
responsibilities."
Also, the Knight of St John International (Jubilee Temple) pray
God to grant the governor wisdom as his discharges his duty in
the state.
They also called on "the Aba Landlords Protection and
Development Association (ALPADA) to join hands with the
Governor to move Abia State to greater heights."
The Aba Diocesan Council of Catholic Men Organization
(ADCCMO) also commended the governor and stressed that:
"your effective and efficient control and management of the
affairs of Abia State, associated with your unrelenting toil and
humility."
Responding, the governor thanked the Church and promised
remain resilient. He reiterated that he bears no grudge against
anyone due to the give rishon race. He also said that he remains
committed to his effort to rebuilt Aba and stressed that anything
on his way to rebuild Aba will go down.
"Am not relocating Ariaria market. But we will rebuild it. We
remain committed to our resolute to rebuild Aba and anything on
way as we do so will go down." Governor Ikpeazu said.
The governor, who is devout Seventh-Day Adventist Church, was
accompanied to the service by his Deputy, Sir Udo Oko Chukwu,
a devout Catholic.
