PROJECT TOUR: Abia governor inspects road projects in Aba (Photos)
Aba, the commercial nerve center of Abia State,
was thrown in frenzy yesterday when the action
Governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu Ph,D
stormed the city to inspect ongoing and completed
road projects. It drew a crowd of supporters and
admirers who were surging behind the entourage of
the patriotic Governor of Abia State chanting “ENYI
MBA ENYI, ENYI MBA ENYI, ENYI MBA ENYI” as the
followed him in appreciation of their indomitable
Governor.
In the Governor’s entourage was Hon.
Commissioner for Works, Hon. Commissioner for
Environment, and many other Governors’ Aides
inclusive.
After visiting the ongoing Umuola, Ehere Market
road, Emelogu Bridge by Opopo road and
inspecting the school road 10 ft. underground
drainage which is the major channel by which the
flood water across Aba metropolis, is channeled to
Aba river, the Governor now headed for St.
Michael’s road through Pound road Ext. where he
instructed that the Commissioners for Works and
Environment should conduct feasibility studies of
St. Michael’s, Hospital, Jubilee roads respectively
and report to his office for immediate assessment
and commencement of work on the mentioned
roads.
He also visited Ochefu road, World Bank housing
estate where he discovered that some unscrupulous
elements have erected structures on water reservoir
systems constructed to prevent erosion and
flooding which has been the major cause of road
damage along Umuocham-Umule newly
constructed road.
The Governor condemned this
unholy act of, thereby destroying the water reservoir
system and directed the Commissioner for
Environment and Works to take immediate action
so as to salvage the roads from imminent collapse.
The Onitsha by Ama Ogbonna road marked the end
of yesterday’s project tour.
