The Epileptic Representation of an Honourable Member

By Kingsley Maduforo

Every member of the House of Assembly has a number of different roles that must incorporate the interest of the whole municipality and those of their constituents. They play vital leadership roles in creating and implementing the vision, strategic direction and values of their constituency. They participate in and represent the interest of their constituents in the decision making of the House as much as they offer suggestions concerning the strategic direction of their constituents. They fast-track development, participate in the responsible allocation of resources of the House through the annual budget and effective communication to their people.

An Honourable member must represent his constituency optimally in the National Assembly. His representation should be felt in the lives of his people. There should be a great impact in, at least, the social infrastructures which is a combination of the basic facilities for human development. For example: health, education and housing. These infrastructures are complementary to each other and are necessary for the overall development of any constituency. But the reverse is the case as far as the Honourable member representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency in the green Chambers of the National Assembly, Hon. Ossy Prestige is concerned.

He has failed to live up to expectations and has truly failed to effectively represent his constituents. Rather, he induges in  cheap lies and deceit, in other to attract attention to his failures. For the past two years in which he has been in office, he has carried out no single visible and quality project. Instead, he has abandoned his school buses on the roads constructed by Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State. Rather than represent the interest of his people who voted for him, he is representing the interest of his pocket. Hon. Ossy Prestige needs to wake up to his responsibilities and represent his constituency on the wide range of issues facing it. In doing so, he needs to obey the law, including the principle of natural justice.

While going through a recent article, I found this claim and lie by Hon. Ossy Prestige, heart breaking; "Indeed, the apocryphal about Hon. Ossy Prestige reconstructing the Garden Avenue Road, Aba, has raised a lot of dust in Abia's political circle. To some, it is an attempt to usurp.Yet to many others it is unnecessary and uncalled for. But to all of us, it remains a doctored lie whose end goal is to seek for unsolicited attention". Yes, the writer tried to escalate another lie by Hon. Ossy Prestige and his honourable failure.

For proper documentation, the only project done by Hon. Ossy Prestige is the constituency office commissioned by the Speaker of the Lower Legislative Chamber of the National Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Dogara and has maintained that as the only project commissioned by him, as against the commissioning of the Garden Avenue Road and another Ohanku Road Aba, which Hon. Ossy Prestige has also shamelessly added to his kit of executed projects.

Abia today does not need any epileptic representation from our Honuorable  Members, like what Aba North/South are experiencing in the hands of Hon. Ossy Prestige. He should to work the talks and fulfill all the campaign promises he made to the people.

Gov. Ikpeazu has been an exemplary leader who is worthy of emulation. He is a workman with a brand, always on the speed lane to achieve his campaign promises. His gaint strides in agriculture, education, health, trade and commerce, which are the pillars of his administration are a testimony for you to testify. He has extensively and efficiently ensured infrastructural transformation by critically ensuring the effective functioning of the state economy.

The Governor has raised the bar in quality and innovation in road construction by introducing rigid pavement technology also known as cement technology into the lexicon of road construction in Abia State. Good road network is having a positive effect on the economic activities of the state and remain a sure way to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state. This achievement can be seen spread across the three senatorial zones of the state. The state is not experiencing any epileptic governance and we need not to have any epileptic representation from our representatives. This is a call to wake up and work the talks.
