UN/CRS mobilize N11 billion naira for empowerment of 150,000 youths
In the bid to empower 150,000 young people in the areas of entrepreneurship, leadership, use of innovative technologies and health from 2016 to 2020, a consortium of partners from the donor and corporate communities under the United Nations is to mobilize and invest approximately eleven billion(N11,696,959,928.70) naira in Cross River state .
THE collaboration is in-tandem with the pro-youth policies of the Governor Ben Ayade administration to massively empower young people in the state.
In addition, the Governor Ben Ayade’s government has amply demonstrated it's commitment to encourage youths in the state to leadership position.
The present initiative with the United Nation is in furtherance to the recent UN support to the state government in its effort to harness the Demographic Dividend to promote economic growth, sustainable development through smart investment, providing a window of opportunity to build capacity for its economy to cope with growing population of dependents including generating adequate jobs to the teeming youths in the state.
To this end, the Cross River State government in collaboration with the United Nations is rolling out a first of its kind Multi-sectoral Youth Development Program which led to the inauguration of its planning committee last week in Calabar.
To ensure the actualization of resource mobilization for the MSYDP a fund raising dinner event will be hosted by His Excellency the Governor of Cross River State, Professor Ben Ayade.
