Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu At It Again...

Abia State Government to begin massive construction of rural
roads to boost the Agriculture and enhance economic activities.
Abia State Government says it is poised to connect communities
with agricultural prospects in the Senatorial zones of the State
with access roads.

Commissioner for Works, Eziuche Ubani who disclosed this during
the inspection of roads in Bende LGA prior to their flag off by the
Governor said the measure will also attract investors who are
willing to go into agricultural production.

According to him, the priority of the state government is to
provide durable access roads in all zones of the state, pointing
out that it is the responsibility of the state Governor to cater for
every part of the state.

He further stated that the move was part of effort of the
government to boost the internally generated Revenue of the
state as well as enhance economic activities in the grassroots
through agricultural production and assured that the Governor will
soon flag off the construction of the roads inspected after the
technical details have been worked out by the engineers.

Hon Ubani pointed out that the affected communities have ample
arable land and agricultural potentials, pointing out that the state
Governor is eager to open up such areas.

The Commissioner who was accompanied on the inspection visit
by his Permanent Secretary, Elder Richard Nwala and the
secretary to the state Government, Dr Eme Okoro called on
Bende people to support the state government in its effort to
make life easier for them.

In his remark while conducting the commissioner round the roads
in Item, the Deputy Speaker, Abia House of Assembly Rt Hon
Cosmas Ndukwe expressed happiness that the Governor was
fulfilling his campaign promises to Bende people and stated his
optimism that the Governor will deliver on the roads.

Also, the former majority leader of the Abia state House of
Assembly, Hon P.C Onyegbu and Amb Endurance Philips
described the state government’s presence in Nkpa as timely and
commendable bearing in mind that the road has been abandoned
for long and assured that Bende people will support and
reciprocate the gesture.

The Roads inspected by the commissioner during the visit include
the Lohum-Lodu-Nkpa road, the Umuimenyi ring road, the Akanu-
Amaeke –Amaokwe Rubber Item ring road and the Ozuitem-
Okwoyi Ibeku road all in Bende LGA among others.
