Abiriba community vow to work for @GovernorIkpeazu 's re-election




Members of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Abiriba, Ohafia LGA of Abia State, have vowed to work with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to ensure his smooth re-election in 2019.

The party's stakeholders and members who spoke during a New Year Day breakfast meeting organized at the Abiriba residence of the state Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Governor in the past 30 months and called on all sons and daughters of the community to support the Governor to lead Abia State to prosperity.

In a communique released to newsmen after the meeting, the party members thanked the Governor for appointing Chief Okiyi as the Commissioner for Information in the state and described his appointment as "merited and a round peg in a round hole".

The communique was endorsed by party stakeholders, including the Leader of the Party, Chief Mba O. Ukariwo, Honorable (Dr) Chris Nwokocha, Honorable Ejibe Kalu, Honorable Vincent Egbuta, Councillors representing Amaogudu, Amaeke and Agboji wards in the community, SSA to the Governor of Sanitation, Honorable Olu Agwu, women leader Madam Nelly Onwuka, Honorable Nnanna Awo, Chief Sunday Ifeigbo, Mayor Agwu Ude, party Chairmen and secretary of the 3 wards and others.

Speaking at the meeting, the Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency, Honorable Uko Nkole, assured Abiriba Community that he will continue to represent their interests at the National Assembly and vowed to ensure that the bill he proposed on the establishment of a federal polytechnic at Abiriba will be passed into law.

Honorable Nkole who listed his various constituency interventions at Abiriba appealed to the people to ensure that they get their Permanent Voters Card ready to reward the Governor for his lofty strides in the state.

Also speaking, the Leader of PDP in Abiriba, Chief Mba Ukariwo, thanked the Governor for appointing many sons and daughters of the community into his government as well as completing work on the phase 1 of Abiriba Ring Road and called on the Governor to ensure that the contractor handling the road project returns to site to execute the phase 2 of the project which he described as key to linking up the 3 major wards in the community.

Chief Ukariwo also called on the state government to speedily intervene at the erosion impacted portion of Igbere-Abiriba federal road to avoid loss of lives as, according to him, "the only major road to Abiriba has been divided in two by erosion with likelihood that the community will be cut off from the rest of the state".

In his remarks, Abia State Commissioner for information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, informed the party members that Governor Ikpeazu considers Abiriba and Ohafia Local Government as his second home and will continue to work to spread prosperity among the people through good governance. He listed various road projects executed by the Governor within the LGA, including ongoing Abiriba ring road, Abiriba-Etitiama Nkporo road, Ohafia ring road among others and called on the people to continue to support the Governor and his Deputy, Rt Hon Sir Ude Oko Chukwu as well as other elected and appointed state officials from the LGA. He assured the people that in 2018 many key projects embarked upon by the Governor will be completed and commissioned to further enhance the socio-economic well being of the people of Abia State.
