@GovernorIkpeazu assures parents and guardians of the safety of their children and wards in private and public schools in Abia

The attention of the Government of Abia State has been drawn to rumors currently gaining momentum in the public to the effect that some unidentified people are going round public and private primary and secondary schools across the state forcefully injecting pupils and students with a strange substance that is responsible for the monkey pox disease under some scheme of immunization.

This rumor is baseless and designed to create huge panic amongst the populace.

The State Government wishes to makes it categorically clear that no such immunization exercise is taking place anywhere in Abia State.

The rumors are products of mischief makers whose wish is to cause confusion and create panic in the state.

Heads of public and private primary and secondary schools across the state are by this notice, placed on high alert and mandated to report to the Police, any attempt by any unauthorized person or persons to enter their premises under any guise whatsoever.

The Abia State Ministry of Health and its offices across the state are further directed to ensure that their field surveillance officers are deployed to all primary and secondary schools immediately to ensure compliance.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu wishes to assure parents and guardians of the safety their children and wards in private and public schools across the state . He further advises that the evil rumor be ignored in its totality and be treated and be treated as the handiwork of people who want to create an atmosphere of panic in the state.
