Governor Ikpeazu Orders Ohafia / Arochukwu Road Rehabilitation

Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has confirmed he would be in Arochukwu on December 3, 2016 for the burial of late Mrs Sussan Nwannediya Kanu Iheme (Udonachi Oha), the mother of former Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Governor Ikpeazu has also ordered and mobilized the chairman of Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State for immediate rehabilitation of the Ohafia/Arochukwu Road to ease vehicular traffic before, during and after the burial. Accordingly, the Abia State government has provided hotel accommodation at Umuahia for Nwankwo Kanu's guests who would be attending the burial on December 3. Chairman of the burial committee, Pastor Onyebuchi Abia confirmed this development, assuring that all arrangements are in progress to give "Mama Atlanta '96" a befitting burial.

 "Abia State governor is amongt the high profile personalities expected at the burial of 'Mama Atlanta', as Kanu's mother is called since Papilo led the U-23 Eagles to win the Olympic Games in Atlanta, 1996," starts Pastor Abia. "The governor has also promised of high security arrangement and has ordered and mobilized Arochukwu Local Government Chairman for immediate rehabilitation of the Ohafia/Arochukwu Road," the Coordinator of Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) said.

 Meanwhile, former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi and the senator representing Abia South in the senate, Mao Ohuabunwa have consoled Nwankwo Kanu following the death of his mother, Sussan Nwannediya Kanu Iheme, at the age of 82. "Condolence messages have been pouring in. You are aware that Senate Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu has sent in his condolence message to Papilo.

 "The latest messages are coming from Peter Obi, the former governor of Abia State as well as Senator Mao Ohuabunwa who represents Abia South in the senate," Abia told Completesportsnigeria.com.
