In its bid to sensitize and bring all stakeholders on board, the
E4E program under the auspices of Aba Chamber of Commerce
on 10th November 2015, hosted Aba businessmen comprising
industrialists, entrepreneurs and artisans at the J. Udeagbala
factory premises in Aba.
The gathering was aimed to engage the businessmen in a
roundtable dialogue and get their input on how the program can
run successfully bearing in mind the ultimate goal—to employ and
empower the teeming unemployed youth of Abia State.
The president of Aba Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and
Agriculture (ACCIMA) Sir Emma Nwakpodolu, while delivering his
speech, said if this program was well embraced; it will go a long
way to cushion the manpower needs of the State. He therefore
called on his colleagues in business to support the program as it
is one with a difference. He thanked the coordinator Mr. Endi
Ezengwa for coming up with the program and prayed that God
will continue to lead him on.
Responding to questions raised by some speakers at the
occasion, Mr. Ezengwa said the number of unemployed youth in
the state were actually human resources which the state can
harness to drive the economy of the state if this program was
well articulated.
He encouraged unity among the different bodies to create the
synergy needed to make it happen. He told the businessmen that
he will do everything possible to assist all businesses that will
key into this project by employing E4E trainees as well as mentor
them to access funds from different donor and funding agencies
both locally and internationally to enable them to expand their
businesses.
Speaking at the occasion the governor, who was represented by
his deputy Rt. Hon. Ude Okochukwu said there is need to partner
with the organized private sector to make the project to work
hence the stakeholders' meeting. He called for all hands to be on
deck and reminded the participants that's it was for the good of
the state since government can no longer absorb all the
unemployed youth in the state especially now that the state
allocation has dwindled.
He thanked them for coming and pledged government assistance
in making the project a very successful one.
