A New page was opened in
the Political annals of God's
own State on 29th of May 2015 when there was a
handover of power from one
political dispensation to
another.
It was a red-letter
day because Abians have been
yearning, angling for a purposeful, focused and above
all, an enterprising leader that
possesses the administrative
acumen that will lead the
state out of her
developmental doldrums.
All these sterling qualities are
inherent in the amiable,
humane brand new governor
Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu He
not only knows his onions,
but he above all possesses the mien, humility and political
will to deal with all the
challenges besetting the state
headlong.
Heaving garnered a wealth of
experience in politics a situation that enhanced his
profile from chairman of
several parastatals to
executive governor.
He has shown to all and
sundry what it means to lead by example.
Some of these
are encapsulated in his
following actions since
assumption of office.
i. Slashing of his salary by
fifty percent (50%)
ii. Rejecting the title of his
Excellency
iii. And turning His back at
political Hallelujah boys (praise
singers) who do that for just
the fattening of their individual pockets.
Abia is in a dire need of a
savior that will uplift her
from so many of her
economic and infrastructural
pogroms (woes). But the coming of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu
to the corridor of power
heralded a new dawn for the
24 year old state.
We have not
had it so good.
He started by awarding Road contracts and clearing all the
refuse dumps in the entire
major cities in Abia.
This will
eventually bring back the
good old days when Aba and
Umuahia where both business and tourist havens.
His singular action of clearing
all the backlog of salaries
owned pensioners is a
testimony to his quest to give
a new lease of life to all Abians irrespective of their
class and gender.
It is worthy of note that this
action will in no small way
boost the morale of workers
in the state.
Knowing that handsome rewards awaits
then on retirement.
As a leader that knows his
onions the ebullient,
indefatigable Abia helmsman
has inaugurated an economic think-tank that will fashion
out modelities and advise the
government on its policies.
This will ensure that the
state's lean resources cannot
be expended on flamboyant and white elephant projects.
All these plans of this brand
new administration cuts-
across all the critical spectrum
of the economy viz:
Agriculture, Trade and Commerce, Manufacturing, Oil
and Gas Infrastructural
upgrade, Urban Renewal,
Education and People. Which
before the expiration of his
four years mandate will be given the needed attention,
which will in turn, translate to
a State where the citizens will
be happy and be proud to be
Abians of God's own State.
